47th marathon completed in 47 days

Mile 1 - 7:10 a.m. 45 degrees and cloudy. Perfect...

Mile 2 - Hardly any wind today...

Mile 3 - Today I break in the second pair of new shoes...

Mile 4 - Like yesterday, the shoes feel extremely comfortable at the beginning...

Mile 5 - If they felt this good the whole distance I would be a very happy man...

Mile 6 - Not even a light breeze today...

Mile 7 - The extended forecast looks like this may be an exciting week...

Mile 8 - The river is even calm!...

 \

Mile 9 - I can already tell that I am gonna take too many pictures today!...

Mile 10 - Running through the park....

Mile 11 - The new shoes still not hurting too much...

Mile 12 - Just another day in paradise...

Mile 13 - Half-way there :)

Mile 14 - Pretty much back into pain management mode...

Mile 15 - One mile at a time at this point...

Mile 16 - The scenery helps...

Mile 17 - I am actually looking forward to the completion of this run!...

Mile 18 - No choice but to "suck it up" and keep going...

Mile 19 - I almost caught a snake where the last photo was taken!...

Mile 20 - Made it out of the marsh...

Mile 21 - Heading south now...

Mile 22 - This has gradually become one of the most difficult marathons yet. Pain off the chart...

Mile 23 - I actually picked up ibuprofen at the convenience store and that is literally something I never do!

Mile 24 - The pain is temporary...

Mile 25 - Time to practice some deep breathing exercises....

Mile 26 - This IS insane :)

Finished!!!

46th marathon completed in 46 days

Mile 1 - 8:28 a.m. 39 degree and sunny for now. Forecast is calling for rain in a few hours. Today's high is 61 degrees so it should be a little bit warmer than yesterday...

Mile 2 - Perspective is everything...

Mile 3 - There is ALWAYS a reason not to do something...

Mile 4 - But you only need one good reason to do it.... (I am feeling quite motivated today)....

Mile 5 - I managed to mix in a little trail running already...

Mile 6 - The temp has warmed up nicely already!...

Mile 7 - On the concrete trail to the shoe store...

Mile 8 - Time to change my tires (almost 1,200 miles on the last four tires (2 pair) in the last 45 1/3 days)....

Mile 9 - Tires are replaced. Heading south into the marsh...

Mile 10 - It's a great day to be alive!...

Mile 11 - Nothing like paved trails through the marsh to give the best of both worlds...

Mile 12 - Meeting up with my running partner. Now the running will get much easier!...

Mile 13 - Clouding over...

Mile 14 - Perfect pace....

Mile 15 - Heading east over the river...

Mile 16 - Feeling pretty good overall...

Mile 17 - Another beautiful day in the park...

Mile 18 - Feet feeling a little tender at this point as usual...

Mile 19 - Wind now picking up...

Mile 20 - Heading further south east...

Mile 21 - Dropped off Eric with only six miles to go...

Mile 22 - My feet are a little worse than normal right now, it is to be expected switching shoes...

Mile 23 - It almost started raining, but I only felt a few drops then nothing...

Mile 24 - More perspective for today... "...for those that ran marathons in the UK today, gale force winds and torrential rain!"...

Mile 25 - Almost there and still no real rain here!...

Mile 26 - Another marathon in the books!!!

45th marathon completed in 45 days

Mile 1 - 11:30 a.m. - 39 degrees and rain! The high for today is only 45 degrees.

Mile 2 - At least the weather will not fluctuate much today...

Mile 3 & 4 - The trick here is updating the blog in the rain! (every few miles I can find a little shelter)...

Mile 5 - I have yet to see another runner....

Mile 6 - Rain is becoming a light sprinkle...

Mile 7 - Of course, as soon as I wrote that, the rain began to pick up again!...

Mile 8 - Heading much further north today...

Mile 9 - Back into the marsh...

Mile 10 - So far I have had the trails all to myself!

Mile 11 - The rain has stopped for now :)

Mile 12 - In Onalaska now, time to head to the west...

Mile 13 - The late start today meant extra rest...

Mile 14 - I can always feel the difference in a run when I am well rested...

Mile 15 - Stopped by a shoe store and put two more pairs of shoes on hold to pick up tomorrow...

Mile 16 - I keep two pairs of shoes. That way, when it rains, I have a dry pair the next day...

Mile 17 - I alternate each pair everyday. That way they break in evenly...

Mile 18 - I put almost 1,200 miles on the two pairs of shoes I am wearing in just the last 45 days!...

Mile 19 - Back in LaCrosse...

Miles 20 through 23 - Feet a little sore but holding up just fine...

Mile 24 - Wind is now picking up...

Mile 25 - Almost there!

Mile 26 - The more variety I add to these daily marathons in terms of the route that I take, the more enjoyable the marathons become. Life is way too short to not enjoy each day to it's fullest.

44th marathon completed in 44 days

Mile 1 - 7:07 a.m. Start time
37 degrees and cloudy with a light breeze out of the south....

Mile 2 - Rain on the radar to the west, but it does not look like it will make it here until this evening...

Mile 3 - Feeling a little sluggish at the start this morning...

Mile 4 - Gradually getting loosened up...

Mile 5 - The goal today is not to move fast, it is just to keep moving...

Mile 6 - All that matters is this one step (literally and metaphorically)...

Mile 7 - Perfect weather right now, not too cold and not to warm...

Mile 8 - Finally I am on auto-pilot. It takes longer some days than others...

Mile 9 - Heading west over the Mississippi. It is almost impossible for me to not stop for a moment, look south down the river and just take in the beauty that most people drive by and don't even notice...

Mile 10 - I was so deep in thought I did not even notice I had past another mile!...

Mile 11 - This park I get to run through every day is like running through a post card...

Mile 12 - Little by little the pain that I experience from doing this is becoming more and more manageable!...

Mile 13 - It almost feels like a fall day today!

Mile 14 - Heading back over the river to meet up with my running partner...

Mile 15 - Back down to riverside...

Mile 16 - To the west the clouds are beginning to break up, turning out to be a great day...

Mile 17 - In the marsh, wind becoming more of a factor...

Mile 18 - MY STATUS for the New York City Marathon lottery:
JUST RELEASED....
Marathon registration status: Not accepted (odds of getting in - about 8% - odds of getting in if I did not apply....0%)

Mile 19 - Trail running again...

Mile 20 - Hixon Forest....

Mile 21 - Going up...

Mile 22 - On top of the bluff now \0/...

Mile 23 - A beautiful view even on a cloudy day...

Mile 24 - Continuing east along the ridge...

Mile 25 - Pastures!!!...

Mile 26 - By far the most scenic run yet!  It took a little longer, but it was worth it.
