39th marathon completed in 39 days

MILE 1 - 9:12 a.m. 45 degrees and sunshine with a high of 55 this afternoon....

MILE 2 - Running the route of the La Crosse Marathon backwards today at mile 12 (12 to start/finish to 12)....

MILE 3 - This may add a little more distance to today's marathon though or I may just break off once I complete my 26.2 miles....

MILE 4 - I am thinking this might be slightly easier if I start going to bed before 2:20 in the morning!...

MILE 5 - Though I do believe that the quality of sleep is more important than the quantity!...

MILE 6 - My legs and feet are feeling pretty good today...

MILE 7 - Since I am running the route backwards today, the wind out of the north will help me along with my last half of the marathon...

MILE 8 - And there is definitely no rain on the radar today...

MILE 9 - Just plenty of sunshine...

MILE 10 - These kind of temps make it real warm when the sun is out and when the sun is blocked by a cloud it feels very cold...

MILE 11 - Still keeping a comfortable pace...

MILE 12 - And still feeling good physically....

MILE 13 - I just saw my first snake of the year. It was a vicious grass snake getting some sun along the side of the road...

MILE 14 - Now I am running from the official start of the marathon to the official finish so I can get back on the course of the LaCrosse marathon route...

MILE 15 - At least I have a rare change of scenery...

MILE 16 - Almost at the finish line so I can get back on the LaCrosse marathon route...

MILE 17 - Still holding the same pace and feet still feeling O.K....

MILE 18 - No hay nada a decir....

MILE 19 - Only about seven miles to go!....

MILE 20 - I have found that when my feet do begin to hurt I can remind myself that they are supposed to feel like that right now, it is just part of the process...

MILE 21 - Then I can just accept it as things being exactly as they are supposed to be right now...

MILE 22 - I also try to remind myself that someone out there will run much farther than I do today...

MILE 23 - And I can always remember the fact that the day will come when I am unable to do this, and today is not that day (Thanks again Kevin)

MILE 24 - That is one thing we always control, our thoughts!...

MILE 25 - A very empowering thought in itself!

MILE 26 - The change of scenery for today was quite liberating! I can't wait to get to Green Bay and Duluth!

FINISH - MAP and STATS

(O.K. Maybe I did take a few too many pictures, but it was such a beautiful day!)
